Looking for a New York City restaurant that stays open late enough to host your whole group? Ichibantei in the East Village serves authentic Japanese cuisine until 3 AM Monday through Saturday, making us one of the few late night group dining venues in Manhattan that can welcome parties of 10, 30, or even 60+ guests well past midnight. Whether you are wrapping up a Broadway show, finishing a corporate offsite, celebrating a bachelor or bachelorette party, or simply gathering friends after a night out, our private dining spaces, group menus, and full bar service are available long after most NYC kitchens have closed.

Why Late-Night Groups Choose Ichibantei NYC

Kitchen Open Until 3 AM, Six Nights a Week: Monday through Saturday we serve a full menu until 3 AM, and on Sundays until 2 AM. There is no late-night limited menu — the same Japanese home-cooked entrées, izakaya bites, katsu curry, ramen, and rice bowls are available right up to last call. Ideal for groups that come in after a concert, theater, sporting event, or shift end.

Group Capacity from 11 to 100+ Guests: Most late-night NYC restaurants cannot seat large parties after midnight. Our upstairs dining room comfortably hosts 50+ guests, and full-floor buyouts are available for parties of 100+. Reserve a section or the entire floor — we will configure seating for your group format.

One Block from Union Square, in the East Village: Located at 100 3rd Avenue between East 12th and 13th Streets, we sit at the border of Union Square and the East Village. The 4/5/6, L, N/Q/R/W, and PATH lines are all within a five-minute walk, so guests can arrive from anywhere in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or New Jersey and still make a late train home.

Full Bar and Sake List Until Close: Japanese beer, sake flights, highballs, shochu, wine, and signature cocktails are available throughout the late-night window. Late-night groups can run an open bar, host a structured sake tasting, or simply order rounds as the evening goes.

Late-Night Group Pricing From $60 per Person: Our group menus start at $60 per guest and scale up to $125+ for premium courses with sake pairings. Pricing is consistent day or night — no late-night surcharge for groups.

Who Books Late-Night at Ichibantei

Broadway and Off-Broadway Cast & Crew (38 guests, 11 PM arrival)

Situation: A production team wanted a real sit-down meal after curtain for cast, crew, and producers. Most NYC restaurants near the venue stopped serving food by 11 PM. They needed a private space, a full menu, and a kitchen still open at midnight.

Solution: Reserved section of the upstairs floor with a $75 per person package — three shared appetizers, choice of katsu curry, donburi, or ramen, and a celebration dessert presentation for opening night. Full bar service from 11 PM through 2 AM.

Result: “Finding a kitchen still open and a real menu after a 10:30 curtain is almost impossible in this neighborhood. Ichibantei made our opening-night dinner feel like a real event, not a leftover meal. We are coming back for every wrap party.” — Production Manager

Tech Company Offsite Wrap Party (54 guests, midnight buyout)

Situation: A visiting engineering team finished a long all-hands day and wanted to keep the night going past midnight with a real dinner and open bar. They needed dietary accommodation for vegan, gluten-free, and halal guests in a single group.

Solution: Full upstairs buyout with a $95 per person celebration package. Vegan katsu curry, halal-friendly chicken options, and gluten-free donburi were prepared alongside the standard menu. Sake pairing flight upgraded the experience.

Result: “We needed somewhere with a real kitchen at midnight that could feed 50 people with mixed dietary needs. Ichibantei delivered without compromise. Every guest had something they loved.” — VP of Engineering

Late-Night Group Dining FAQ

What time does the kitchen close?

Last food orders are accepted up to 3 AM Monday through Saturday and 2 AM on Sundays. We recommend confirming the final order time with your event coordinator at the start of your event, especially for buyouts.

Is the full menu available late at night?

Yes. We do not run a limited late-night menu. Katsu curry, ramen, donburi, teishoku sets, izakaya appetizers, vegan and gluten-free options, and the full beverage program are all available until close.

How far in advance should we book a late-night group?

For 11–30 guests, two weeks of notice is comfortable. For buyouts of 50+ guests, four weeks is ideal. We can occasionally accommodate shorter notice for late-night arrivals — please inquire and we will confirm availability.

Can we run an open bar after midnight?

Yes. We offer hourly open bar packages and consumption-based bar tabs through close. Sake, Japanese whisky, beer, and wine are all available, and our team will pace service to your group format.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Always. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal-friendly, and allergen-aware menus are part of our normal service. Share dietary needs with your inquiry and we will tailor the menu without additional cost.

Can our group arrive in waves?

Yes. Late-night groups frequently arrive across a 60–90 minute window because of show end times, train schedules, or shift changes. We hold space and pace service to accommodate.
